The Cordova-Verdon Experiment: Chapter #3

It was right around the year 2000? I took a trip, to the bay area! I was on my way to Monterey, California. We stopped in Vacaville, to eat and to shop! I went inside a collector and gifts store, on the main-street in Vacaville. When suddenly, I lost my breath, looking at “two steins” made by: Anheuser-Busch and their was more….

The first stein, looking “majestic” on display with a special light hanging over it! A stein made of the past great and commercial icon “Spuds Mackenzie!” one of the biggest legends ever for Anheuser-Busch Corporation! Spuds! Was, just as big as you can get in the commercial industry in it’s time!

I looked for a while, then I felt shaky, and the final blow was when, I looked and saw the “Bud Ice - Penguin” made looking like a penguin, yet still just a stein. My wife, knew I needed to leave the store and get to the car! Before, she could open the door? I fell to the ground, she helped me up into my seat…!

I’m not saying, I was the creator of “Spuds Mackenzie” but, I am saying, I was the creator of the “Spuds Mackenzie Stein.” They copied my design to a tie. I wanted it made by: Gertz of Germany? I don’t know if that was who, they selected?

As far as my “Bud-Ice Penguin Stein” that’s when I fell, before I could make it to the car!

The two steins where, “High-End” for Anheuser-Busch costing nearly, or over $200.00 a piece! Just what, I wanted the company to make for appreciation to the financial profiting for Anheuser-Busch and to help protect the “Artic” with the Bud-Ice Penguin designs.

The manufactures in Germany, South America and China made millions and millions maybe billions developing these products for sale? Think about it for a second? You have “four continents” making two products of mine. What do you see?

That was the “one, two punch” for me, on my trip to the bay area! It’s kind of a remind to me of the song by: Frank Sinatra! “It happened to me in Monterey!” Even though, I know his Monterey was way different, than mine….>

Sincerely,

Eddie Verdon
